CONTRIBUTION OF AA NATURE VS INTRINSIC DISORDER ON ADAPTATION

Increase of disorder was found to be correlated to a higher adaptive potential (63% of infected plants) compared with 39% for the WT-PVY. These preliminary data strongly suggest that IDRs contribute to adaptive mechanisms of plant viruses. We believe that the results we have obtained provide the first experimental demonstration of protein ID involvement in host resistance breakdown by a RNA virus, and this, at the scale of a whole organism in a real physiological environment.

To go further level of disorder will be tuned by AA change at same position.

These new variants will be challenged to a collection of resistant plants.

It is expected that PVY with a higher disorder VPg are more prone to adapt to resistance. In this case increasing disorder will effectively give an advantage for resistance breaking, independely of the nature of AA.
